A dazzling 17 metre Christmas tree, hundreds of thousands of lights, panoramic LED screens, an immersive sound system and even a snow machine; City of Melbourne's Christmas tree is the Crown Jewel of the Christmas Festival in Melbourne.

 

A Melbourne Christmas Tradition

For over 10 years Sound Environment has worked closely with the City of Melbourne to produce a one of a kind Christmas experience.

The Christmas Tree offers the unique opportunity to push our creative and tech teams to their limits, constantly improving the experience year over year. During the day, the Tree and surrounds offers a Christmas themed audio-visual playground for young and old, and when the sun goes down it transforms into a canvas for music and light shows that completely envelope the entire square



Bespoke Content, Bespoke Experience

From the ground up, the video content displayed on the Christmas Tree is hand made - Literally!

Countless hours are poured into creating animation and video content - be it digital or Claymation, every pixel is thoughtfully crafted to entertain, delight and inspire. Countless people of all ages have enjoyed the fun and colourful antics of the characters on screen.

This bespoke approach doesn’t just stop at the video content. We also collaborated with Melbourne City Council to create custom music and soundscapes to go along with the wonderful animations. Hard hitting electro, emotional orchestral suites or quirky and fun filled songs - we’ve created an entire musical world for the Christmas Square.

The Fed Square Christmas Tree is a great showcase for what we do at Sound Environment. It combines our expertise in spatial and immersive technologies, content production, project management, lighting, video, IT and many other areas into one cohesive experience that most Melbournians enjoy every year.
