Bank Australia

Using Multichannel sound, projection mapping and custom lighting to create an immersive office environment that connect Bank Australia's staff to their environmental goals.

Connecting Spaces Through Sound

The main idea behind this multifaceted installation was to connect the staff of Bank Australia's inner city office with the regeneration efforts the company has been investing in, hopefully allowing the staff to experience even a little bit of how impactful this investment has been. Bank Australia owns two properties in Western Victoria, and together with Greening Australia they are helping to return them to their natural state.

Content Right From The Source

Sound Environment spent a week recording sounds on these properties, collecting and documenting the soundscape of the properties with extreme fidelity. We then crafted dynamic soundscapes with natural movement and space that capture the essence of the flora and fauna of the two properties. The soundscapes play back in real time in the Collingwood head office, changing with the time of day and seasons to create a dynamic and realistic auditory window into the natural world.

Creative Projection

Alongside these soundscapes are multiple "Augmented images''. These floor to ceiling prints are overlaid projection mapped animations, bringing life to an otherwise still image. Kangaroos hop between bushes, and seagulls float on updrafts above a blue ocean. The water sparkles with imaginary sunlight, and dragonflies weave their way between trees.

Spaces That Come Alive

Another take on this "Augmented Images'' theme was our real-time light box concept. Using an image of Bank Australia's regenerated land, we used custom software and lighting techniques to simulate real time lighting effects on the image. In the morning, the sun "rises" in deep purples, then transitions to bright blue hues of a summer's day, then as the sun goes down on the office, so too the sun sets in the image, with rich pinks and dark blues.
